Setting up your receipt printer and cash drawer is magically easy. Here you will learn how to connect a Star TSP 100 printer to your Windows computer and the Metapace K2 cash drawer. The process may differ on other devices or other operating systems, but many steps are the same.
First of all, please set up the device according to the attached instructions, assemble it and connect it to the PC. It is important that the printer is connected to the PC and powered for setup.
Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for the printer. An installation CD with the latest drivers is usually included (if you don't have a CD drive on your computer, you can find the latest drivers on the manufacturer's website: Star Global Support Site ).
Please follow the installation path of the driver until the printer has been successfully added to the system - i.e. you can select it as a "printer" on the computer.
If you want to connect the cash drawer directly, then please plug the plug of the cash drawer (RJ-12 plug, looks like a telephone cable) into the printer from the back.
Install printer driver
Now you have to install the latest drivers for the receipt printer. An installation CD is often included with the device or it can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website. The drivers are often installed automatically when the device is connected. However, to ensure that the latest drivers have been installed, it is recommended to install the drivers via CD or download.
Make the receipt-printer device settings
Once you have completed these steps, go to the printer settings in Windows.
- Under select Windows Start / Devices and Printers .

- Under "Peripheral device 1" and "Peripheral device 2" you set "Document end" (this is used by the printer to know when exactly the drawer should be opened).
- When you're done with that - great! It should now look like this:

Fine-adjustments of the receipt printer
Is the receipt too long, too short or difficult to read?
We still have a few ideas what could be the cause. Every calculator is a little different - we love them all!
If the receipt is longer than required or the display is distorted, please change the printer in the Adjust print dialog for Windows to the following "parameters":
Then everything should work. Please repeat the opening process one more time to verify that it really works.
The drawer does not open even though everything is set correctly?
This is indeed possible and is usually because the drawer has been locked with a key and additionally secured - take a look!
