Prerequisites

- Chat configuration: MagicAI Chat is active for your studio and at least one chat configuration exists. How to create, publish and activate one is described in Setting up MagicAI Chat.
Teaser message and message suggestions at a glance
While the chat is closed, members see only the floating chat button. Teaser message and message suggestions invite them to start a conversation:
- Teaser message: a short text that appears next to the floating chat button.
- Message suggestions: up to three buttons with prepared questions. They can appear next to the floating chat button, on the start screen of the opened chat, or in both places.
Both are set up in the same dialog, General information, on the Settings tab of a chat configuration. You can use them together or separately, for example suggestions without a teaser message.
Setting up the teaser message
- Go to Settings / MagicAI / Chat and open the chat configuration.
- On the Settings tab, open the menu of the General information card and click Edit general information. The dialog General information opens.
- Switch on Enable teaser. The field Teaser message appears.
- Enter the text. While the teaser is switched on, the field is required and takes a maximum of 500 characters.
- Click Save.
To hide the teaser message again, switch off Enable teaser and save.
Setting up message suggestions
Two switches decide where the suggestions appear:
- Enable message suggestions: shows the suggestions as buttons next to the floating chat button.
- Show suggestions on the start screen: shows the suggestions on the start screen of the opened chat.
Both switches use the same list of suggestions. There is no separate list for the start screen.
- In the dialog General information, switch on Enable message suggestions, Show suggestions on the start screen or both. The list of suggestions appears.
- Click Add suggestion.
- Enter the Button text. This is the label of the button members click. The field is required and takes a maximum of 40 characters.
- Optionally, enter a Message (max. 500 characters). This is the text that is sent to the chat when a member clicks the button. Without a message, the button text itself is sent.
- Repeat steps 2 to 4 for further suggestions. Once three suggestions exist, Add suggestion is no longer shown.
- Click Save.
To remove a suggestion, click Delete next to it and save.
If your chat configuration supports several languages, enter the teaser message, button texts and messages for each language where the dialog shows a language picker.
Mobile devices
The switch Show teaser and message suggestions on mobile devices is shown in the dialog only while Enable teaser or Enable message suggestions is switched on.
- Switched on: teaser message and suggestion buttons also appear next to the floating chat button on mobile devices.
- Switched off: on mobile devices, the teaser message and the suggestion buttons next to the floating chat button are not shown. The suggestions on the start screen of the opened chat are not affected by this switch.
What members see
- Timing: teaser message and suggestion buttons appear next to the floating chat button about three seconds after the chat widget has loaded.
- Click on a suggestion: the click starts the chat. The suggestion's Message is sent as the member's first chat message. If no message is set, the Button text is sent instead.
- Start screen: with Show suggestions on the start screen switched on, the same suggestions appear as buttons when a member opens the chat. A click works the same way.
- Dismissing: a visitor can close the teaser. Teaser message and suggestion buttons next to the floating chat button then stay hidden for the rest of that browser session.
Teaser and suggestions only appear where the chat itself appears. A configuration that is still a draft does not reach members.

| Show suggestions on the start screen | Shows the suggestions on the start screen of the opened chat. | Works independently of Enable message suggestions and uses the same list of suggestions. |

Wording examples
The following texts are examples only. Adapt them to your studio and your offer.
- Teaser message: "Questions about memberships or a trial workout? I'm happy to help."
- Suggestion 1: button text "View memberships", message "Which memberships do you offer?"
- Suggestion 2: button text "Book a trial workout", message "How can I book a trial workout?"
- Suggestion 3: button text "Opening hours", without a message. A click sends "Opening hours".
Keep the teaser message short and inviting. Phrase the button text as a clear, short label and the message as the complete question a member would ask.
Website integration
How to embed the chat widget on your own website is described in Setting up MagicAI Chat, section Embed the chat widget. Website developers can additionally control the teaser message and the suggestions on the website with JavaScript.
