What are stepped discounts?
With stepped discounts, you set multiple consecutive discounts within a single voucher. Each step has its own discount value and applies for a defined period; after that, the next step automatically applies. Example: 1st month 50%, 2nd month 40%, 3rd month 30% – from the 4th month, the full fee applies again.
Benefits for your studio
- More conversions at entry: Low entry barrier in the first month, followed by a smooth transition.
- Plannable campaigns: One voucher covers several months and steps – no manual adjustments needed.
- Flexibility: For each step, you choose percentage or fixed amount – the steps are applied sequentially.
Requirements & permissions
No new rights are necessary; existing user permissions for vouchers continue to apply.
Set up voucher: choose discount type
When creating or editing a voucher, select the discount conditions section and choose the discount type:
Define steps (percentage or fixed amount)
After selecting stepped discount, define for each step:
- Discount type: percentage or fixed amount
- Value: e.g., 50% or €10.00
- Duration: e.g., 1 month, 2 months, etc.
Use “+ add discount” to add as many steps as you like; the discounts will automatically be applied sequentially to the contract.
Duration of the last step (until initial term or unlimited)
For the last step, you can set it to last longer than the defined duration. Your options are:
- until the initial term – the last step runs until the end of the contractual initial term,
- unlimited – the last step remains active until the contract ends or the voucher is manually deactivated.
Example configuration
- Month 1: 30% discount
- Month 2: 20% discount
- Month 3: 5% discount
- From month 4: regular fee (alternatively: continue last step until initial term/unlimited).
Frequently asked questions & tips
Can I mix percentage and fixed amount?
No, currently all steps must uniformly contain either percentages or a fixed amount.
What is this especially suitable for?
For onboarding or reactivation campaigns where you want to gradually reduce the discount over time to achieve a smooth pricing approach.
What should I test?
Create a test member, redeem the voucher, and check the fee preview for the first months to ensure values and durations per step apply as planned.
Note: The uniform discount remains available if you only need a single discount for the entire period – the stepped discount extends this option with multiple consecutive steps.
