- Select “Add device” via the 3-dot menu in the device manager.

You want to connect devices such as card readers, solarium or turnstiles directly to your Magicline? Here, we explain step by step how to connect your studio technology to your Magicline. Before you can connect a device, you must have completely installed and set up the Device Manager software.
Connecting your first device
Open your Magicline and navigate to “Settings”. There you will find the section “Access Control” and below that the section “Device Manager”.
In the Device Manager, you will find the three-dot menu at the top right:
Click on “Add device”to get the following dialogue:
In the input field “Device description” you can enter any text that will help you to distinguish between different devices and to identify them directly. Next, you can select the desired task.
Depending on the task you have chosen, the selection of possible device models changes. And depending on the selected device model, different connection types offered. The following example shows a GAT Writer 6000F connected via USB (virtual COM port).
NOTE: Only implemented devices can be connected, the connection of non-system devices is not possible.
Depending on the selected task, the selected model and the selected connection type, after clicking on “Next”, different information is required. In this example, you first need the COM port of the GAT Writer 6000F. You will find it in the Device Manager in your Windows Control Panel.
Under “Ports” all devices with the corresponding COM port listed. Search for the desired device and enter it in the field COM port.
After clicking on “Next” some options can be set. In this example, these are “Prevent multiple check-ins” and “Restrict the time of availability”.
Click on “Save” to save the created device. If the device manager is online, it will immediately retrieve the new device, and it should be ready for use after a short time.
