What are promotions
- Promotions give you an effective tool to keep your members engaged and aware of current promotions.
- Organize raffles or promote special offers, services or additional modules and generate more upsell.
- The playout happens directly in the MySports app of your members and is supported via banner, pop-up and/or as push notification.
- Get information about reach, conversion and open rates of your promotion.
Create promotion
In your Magicline, go to MySports/Direct Marketing and click on "Promotions". Click on "Create promotion" and enter an internal name and a publication period. Your promotion is not published yet, but needs further configuration of the actual content in the next step.
Use external landing page (optional)
By default, promotions do not need external landing pages and do not require any web development by you. The entire promotion consisting of banner, title and text can be conveniently configured to your Magicline. If you still want to display the content of your promotion on your own landing page, check the "Use external landing page" box. You can then enter the corresponding URL.
If your users later open the promotion, for example by clicking on a banner, this will open a web page with the landing page you configured. If your landing page is a contest form, you can use the Connect API to play the information about a member's participation back into your Magicline.
Configure promotion
For your promotions, you can get your members' attention through banners, push notifications, or pop-ups. Configure at least one of these communication channels to make your promotions visible to members. When your members click on a banner, open a notification or click on the corresponding button in the pop-up, they will be taken to the actual promotion. You can either display the promotion as a direct promotion page within the MySports app, or use a web view with an external landing page.
Promotion page
The promotion page represents the actual content of your promotion. This tab is only displayed if your promotion is configured without an external landing page.
For your promotion page, you can optionally configure a button which can link other areas of the app (e.g. the referral program or additional modules). This way, you can interactively promote these areas.
You can configure your promotion as a contest by selecting the button link type "Participation / Contest" under "Promotion configuration". In this case, another configuration card will appear with the title "Configuration Participation / Sweepstakes". There, you can configure a success message for participation and a "Required legal consent", which your members have to confirm for participation. In the associated text, you can also embed links (for example, to external terms and conditions).
Once participated, banners, pop-up and notifications will no longer be displayed for affected members.
Banner
In the tab "Banner" you can configure a banner for your promotion, which should appear in the MySports app of your members. Click on "Edit banner presentation" to configure a banner image (jpg, jpeg, png, max 2MB, recommended: 400x300). Also select the size (height) of the banner and an optional text to be displayed at the bottom above the banner image. Your banner image will be slightly darkened in this case so that the text is easy to read. Also, if you wish, display an additional badge with a colored background in the upper part of the banner image.
In the "Banner Behavior" tab you can configure where your banner should be displayed (dashboard, self-service, studio page), whether users can hide it and how quickly it will be displayed again in this case. Important: Only after you have chosen a location for the banner, it can be visible for users.
Notifications
With notifications, you can get the maximum attention of your users for your promotion. At the configured time, your members will receive a MySports push notification on their mobile device. Once opened, they will be taken to your promotion page. To do this, click on "Add notification" in the "Notifications" tab. Configure the title and content and save the notification as a draft.
It is important that you schedule the sending time of your notification so that it can become active. You can do this after publishing in the context menu of the respective notification via the item "Schedule delivery time".
Send test notification
You can test your notification on your own mobile device. You can do this even if your promotion has not been published yet. To do so, click on the context menu of a draft notification and then on "Send test notification". Select yourself as a member and click save. Within a few minutes you will see the test notification on your mobile device.
Pop-Up
Pop-ups are an effective way to attract members to your promotion. They open automatically when you launch the app, and a customizable button takes your members to the promotion page. In the "Pop-up" tab, first go to "Pop-up presentation" and assign a title, image, content and button text for the teaser of your promotion. Under "Pop-up schedule" you can set when the pop-up should be visible. After clicking the button or hiding the pop-up, your members will not see the pop-up again. If you want to show it a second time, you can check "Show again after closing" and set a second time.
Test promotion
You can fully test a promotion in your own MySports app or that of your colleagues before it is published. To do this, you can select a test member via the "Test promotion" button, who can see the banner or pop-up of the unpublished promotion after clicking "Save". You can send test notifications separately in the corresponding tab via the context menu of the respective notification. Pop-up and banner cannot be hidden permanently in test mode and will reappear when you restart the app. To end the test again, go to "Test promotion" again and use the "X" next to the selected user to remove.
Publish promotion
Once your promotion is configured, you can publish it. This does not happen automatically for the initially entered promotion period, but must be done explicitly via the button "Manage publication". In the corresponding dialog, you can again adjust for which studios the promotion should be published.
Evaluate promotion
In the overview of all promotions, as well as on the detail page of an individual promotion, you will find statistics that allow you to evaluate the promotion. You can find the following numbers there:
- Active app users - This is an estimate of the expected reach of your promotion. It is calculated from the number of active app users in the last 30 days. For unpublished configuration, this is all active app users in the studios for which the configuration was released. Otherwise, it is the sum of active app users in all studios for which the promotion was released.
- Participants - This number is only available for sweepstakes. It represents the number of sweepstakes participants for this promotion.
- Conversion rate - This number is also only available for sweepstakes and represents the ratio of active app users to participants.
- Notifications opened - number of notifications opened for this promotion.
- Banners opened - Number of banners opened for this promotion.
- Pop-ups clicked - number of clicks on the call-to-action button within the pop-ups for this promotion.
Evaluate sweepstakes
In addition to the numbers for "Participants" and "Conversion rate" mentioned in the "Evaluate promotion" section, you can download a list of all participants for the evaluation and prize distribution of your competition. Click on "Download list of participants" in the context menu. The downloaded XLSX file has columns for date of participation, first name, last name, e-mail address and origin (banner, pop-up, notification) of the participant.
