What are Finion Financial Services Debts?
These are outstanding debts managed by Finion Capital (direct debit payment processor) or Finion FairPay (debt collections partner). They differ from direct studio charges and are centrally displayed in the Member App when:
- A direct debit could not be collected (Finion Capital).
- The charge was transferred to FairPay after two failed payment attempts (debt collections status).
Prerequisites
The feature is automatically enabled for:
- Studios in Germany and Austria.
- Customers using MemberCash (payment processing) and the active Member App.
- Members using the Member App.
Note: A tile for Finion Capital or FairPay will only appear if the member has unpaid debt claims.
Accessing the Finion Debt Overview
- Open the app (or web view) and navigate to: Self-Service → Account → Open Payments.
- Among the tiles, you will find:
- "Amount Due to the Studio" (direct studio debts).
- "Amount Due to Finion Capital" (visible only if there are open Finion Capital debts).
- "Amount Due to Finion FairPay" (visible only if there are open Finion FairPay debts).
- Tap on the relevant Finion tile to view details.
Managing Finion Capital Debts
If the debt is still with Finion Capital, the member will see the following information:
- Total Amount: Sum of all open items.
- Returned Direct Debits: List with amount and date.
- Fees/Costs and any payments already made.
- Finion Capital Reference Number (for bank transfers).
- Last Contact: Date/time of the last reminder (e.g., via email).
Payment Options
The member can choose between:
-
Bank Transfer:
- Tap on "Show Transfer Details".
- Copy the IBAN and the Reference Number (use as payment reference!).
- Complete the transfer using the displayed details.
-
Direct Debit Re-authorization:
- Tap on "Open Customer Portal" (redirects to the Finion Capital Customer Portal).
- Note: Here, the member can only update the payment method (e.g., provide a new mandate), not make direct payments.
Managing Finion FairPay Debts
Once the charge has gone to collection status, the view changes:
- Note: A new tile informs that the charge is now with FairPay.
- FairPay Reference Number (replaces the Finion Capital reference number).
- Payment Option: Only the "Open Service Portal" button (redirects to the FairPay Service Portal).
Important:
- Payments are exclusively possible through FairPay—no longer through Finion Capital!
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the member see different Finion tiles?
The "Amount Due to Finion Capital" or "Amount Due to Finion FairPay" tile appears only if there are open debts. The "Amount Due to the Studio" tile shows direct studio debts (e.g., membership fees). Both are managed separately.
Can the member switch between Finion Capital and FairPay?
No. The switch happens automatically:
- As long as the charge is with Finion Capital, the member sees the Capital options.
- After two failed payment attempts, the charge is transferred to FairPay—from then on, only the FairPay options are visible.
How often are the amounts updated?
The data is reloaded each time the view is opened. After visiting the Finion or FairPay portal (e.g., after making a payment), the member should restart the Member App. However, there may be delays in the display.
What happens when all amounts are settled?
Once the total amount is at €0, the Finion options will no longer be displayed.
